Hong Kong-listed NagaCorp has appointed a second architecture firm for its US$3.5 billion Naga3 development, with world-renowned Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP (SOM) to work alongside Steelman Partners to finalize the design.
SOM, which was also announced as architect for Rush Street Japan’s integrated resort concept in Hokkaido this week, is best known for designing the world’s tallest building – Burj Khalifa in Dubai – and New York’s One World Trade Center.
“Both of these companies are evaluating and refining the existing conceptual designs to truly create a regional world-class comprehensive integrated entertainment complex which shall compete with regional peers in the Asia Pacific areas,” NagaCorp said of the decision to bring SOM into the mix.
It also referenced an “overwhelming response” from regional construction companies to the development of Naga 3, including Chinese state-owned enterprises China Construction and Metallurgical Corporation of China among others. The project contractor, CCAG Asia Co Ltd, “has indicated its intention to appoint and work with such selected sub-contractors who have capital, experience and expertise to fast track the development and completion of Naga 3,” the company said.
Approval has also been granted by the Cambodian government for a “world-class” garden to be developed in front of Naga3, which NagaCorp says will allow it to build a three-storey underground carpark connecting Naga3 with NagaCity Walk, Naga 1 and Naga 2.
