Inside Asian Gaming will announce the 2019 Asian Gaming Power 50 at a black tie gala dinner to be held at JW Marriott, Galaxy Macau on 1 November 2019.

The countdown is now well and truly on, with just one month to go until Inside Asian Gaming reveals the 2019 Asian Gaming Power 50 list of the most influential people in the Asian gaming industry.

What began in 2008 as a fun and innovative way to recognize the people who make our industry tick has become a highly anticipated annual insight into the key players to have shaped the landscape of Asian gaming.

Sands China Limited Senior Vice President of Table Games Sean McCreery accepting the award on behalf of Sands China Limited Chairman and CEO Mr Sheldon Adelson for the number 1 position on the 2018 Asian Gaming Power 50 list.

And as has become the norm, the race is on to see whether Las Vegas Sands Chairman and CEO Sheldon Adelson will hold onto top spot for a record seventh year in a row or if the likes of Galaxy Entertainment Group Vice-Chairman Francis Lui can return to No 1 for the first time since 2012.

Notably, only four men have occupied top spot since IAG first named the Asian Gaming Power 50 in 2008, with Genting Group boss KT Lim the only one of those to have done so without operating a casino in Macau.

The No 1 position over the course of the past 11 years has been awarded as follows:

  • 2008: Dr Stanley Ho
  • 2009: Tan Sri KT Lim
  • 2010: Mr Sheldon Adelson
  • 2011 and 2012: Mr Francis Lui
  • 2013 to 2018: Mr Sheldon Adelson

Can Adelson do it again? Has the relentless rise of Galaxy pushed Lui across the line? Or could we see a surprise contender in Melco Resorts Chairman and CEO Lawrence Ho, whose company has significantly expanded its operations into Cyprus and Australia over the past year?

All will be answered on the evening of Friday 1 November 2019!

Celebrating its 12th year since debuting in 2008, the 2019 Asian Gaming Power 50 will be announced at a lavish black tie gala dinner, to be held this year at JW Marriott, Galaxy Macau.

The Asian Gaming Power 50 Black Tie Gala Dinner will see IAG count down this year’s “Big 50” while guests enjoy a fine dining meal, lively entertainment and the company of many industry peers and influencers. The list will be announced in a variety of interesting ways by renowned VIPs and government officials throughout the evening. Seats are strictly limited to 300 guests and are selling fast with over 75% sold at time of press.

First published by IAG in 2008, the Asian Gaming Power 50 has become renowned as the definitive guide to the most influential people in the Asian gaming industry over the preceding 12 months.

This year’s black tie gala dinner will be held at JW Marriott, Galaxy Macau.

The list is compiled each year using a detailed mathematical formula to ensure final rankings are both scientific and objective. This formula takes into account such factors as the scale of each candidate’s company, their operations and/or expansion efforts over the past 12 months as well as the “true” power each candidate has in the day-to-day operations of the company they represent. The “Big 50” list is then dissected and discussed at length between the nine members of the judging panel and adjusted accordingly.

This year’s Asian Gaming Power 50 judging panel comprises an elite group of gaming industry veterans representing a broad cross-section of the industry, from regulators, legislators and lawyers to consultants, researchers and media.

They include Professor Davis Fong, Director of the Institute for the Study of Commercial Gaming at the University of Macau and member of Macau’s Legislative Assembly; Mr David Green, former gaming regulator with the Independent Gambling Authority in South Australia and CEO at Newpage Consulting; Constance Hsu, Group Chief Operating Officer of Jin Bei Group and former President of Mocha Clubs; Professor Desmond Lam, Professor in Integrated Resort and Tourism Management at the University of Macau; Rui Pinto Proença, Corporate and Gaming Practice Partner at MdME Lawyers; and Michael Zhu, Senior Vice President of International Operations Planning and Analysis for The Innovation Group. Inside Asian Gaming CEO Andrew W Scott, Managing Editor Ben Blaschke and Editor-at-Large Muhammed Cohen are also on the judging panel.

A huge thankyou goes out to our sponsors for this year’s Asian Gaming Power 50 Black Tie Gala Dinner – Title Sponsor Galaxy Entertainment Group, Welcome Cocktails Sponsor Okada Manila, Platinum Sponsors Suncity Group and Aristocrat, Entertainment Sponsor Scientific Games and Gold Sponsors Melco Resorts, MGM China, Sands China, SJM Holdings and Solaire Resort & Casino.

Sponsorship and ticketing opportunities are still available for the 2019 Asian Gaming Power 50 Black Tie Gala Dinner. Please contact Jadeson Ho on +853 6331 5577 or at jh@asgam.com for more information.

Details of the sponsorship opportunities available can be found at www.iagpower50.com.
