Galaxy Entertainment Group has released details of its under-construction Galaxy International Convention Center (GICC), described as Asia’s most technologically advanced event facility.
Scheduled to open in early 2021 as part of Galaxy Macau’s Phase 3 development, GICC will cover 40,000 square meters of MICE space including a 10,000-square meter exhibition and conference hall. It will also be home to the 16,000-seat Galaxy Arena for concerts and sporting events.
Details of GICC were unveiled this week at IBTM China – a MICE and business travel exhibition in Beijing – with Galaxy highlighting the venue’s advanced facilities, immersive technology, state-of-the-art audio-visual and lighting, latest communication system and flexible event space catering to multiple configurations and set-ups.
The 10,000-square meter exhibition hall is notable for its lack of pillars, while other spaces will include an auditorium seating 650 guests for keynote sessions, ceremonies, performances and product launches; a banquet hall seating 2,400 guests; a 4,000-square meter conference hall consisting of three partitionable spaces; a ballroom catering for over 1,000 guests; a selection of dining options and a luxury lifestyle hotel with over 700 rooms.

The opening of GICC will see Galaxy go head-to-head with Sands China when it comes to Macau’s MICE industry, with the new facility set to provide a long-awaited alternative to the expansive Cotai Expo at The Venetian Macao. Galaxy Arena will also provide another option for large-scale shows which have traditionally been limited to Sands’ 15,000 seat Cotai Arena.
