Less than 48 hours after CEO Alvin Chau fronted a press conference in Macau to refute allegations the company was involved in online gambling and proxy betting operations, Suncity Group was back doing what it does best on Monday with the launch of a new VIP Club at the Rio Hotel and Casino.

Rio Suncity VIP Club, located on the second floor of the boutique hotel in the heart of the Macau Peninsula, comprises a total of four VIP gaming rooms and 12 gaming tables. It is Suncity’s 8th VIP Club in Macau.

It’s been a busy few months for Asia’s biggest junket operator, having opened two Cambodian VIP Clubs at NagaWorld and in Sihanoukville as well as launching an expanded space at Macau’s StarWorld.

The company made global headlines last week after Chinese media published an article accusing Suncity of signing up players who gambled in its Macau junket rooms to online gaming and proxy betting services. Both are banned under Macau and Chinese law.

In response, Chau called a special press conference over the weekend at which he revealed Suncity would not conduct any gaming operations currently outlawed in Macau in any other countries and regions – online gaming and proxy betting among them – even if those operations are legally allowed within those jurisdictions.
