Japanese hospitality firm Current Inc, one of six aspiring operators to present at last week’s Kyushu-Nagasaki Integrated Resort (IR) Business-Connect Seminar held in Sasebo city, says it expects annual sales of JPY400 billion (US$3.7 billion) should it win a Nagasaki IR license.
Hidenobu Takagi, director of Current Inc., said the company’s business philosophy is to create a story full of hospitality and laughter, adding it has already opened an office in Sasebo for the purpose of IR development at Huis Ten Bosch.
Current Inc, which has links to Macau’s Sofitel at Ponte 16 and Hong Kong-listed Get Nice Holdings, put forward a plan to make the marina at Huis Ten Bosch more functional so visitors can move from Nagasaki Airport to the IR facility by a boat with a transparent bottom, or a “Traveling Aquarium”.
Moreover, there are detailed plans for a loyalty scheme based on the number of visits and to introduce some of Nagasaki’s attractions so it becomes a location people will want to visit repeatedly.
“If a Nagasaki IR becomes a reality, we predict annual sales of JPY400 billion,” Takagi said. “Our group is preparing to invest JPY550 billion (US$5.1 billion) and has already secured the funds.
“We want a Nagasaki IR to happen and be a success. We believe in this very strongly and will do everything we can to make it a reality.”
