The Nagasaki Prefectural Assembly began to ask general questions on 21 June regarding an IR bid as Governor Hodo Nakamura expressed his volition for an IR bid in Huis Ten Bosch.
“We aim to establish an entry point for IRs with a Japanese IR in Kyushu,” he stated. General questions will be accepted until 25 June.
Governor Nakamura visited the LDP (Liberal Democratic Party) headquarters earlier this month and met with party leaders, including Chairman of the Policy Affairs Research Council Fumio Kishida. There are also signs of Kyushu Shinkansen (bullet train) preparing for an IR bid with full standard specs on all routes. Meetings are to be held as part of the prefecture’s request for the next fiscal year.
While the national government’s Fundamental Policy for IRs, previously planned to be announced in July, has been delayed until at least the autumn, Governor Nakamura explained, “There are no further delays expected before opening, which is anticipated for the mid-2020s.”
He made clear his hope that the government would move forward with procedures in a timely manner.
The Kyushu/Nagasaki Business Connect Seminar will be held at Arkas Sasebo this week with at least six IR related businesses scheduled to discuss the possibilities and issues of a Nagasaki IR, including the Agora Hospitality Group, Current Co., Ltd, Sofitel Macau At Ponte 16, Get Nice Holdings Ltd, Oshidori International Holdings Ltd and Casinos Austria International. Approximately 500 people are expected to attend, making it the largest IR seminar ever held on Kyushu.
