Melco Resorts & Entertainment has delayed the opening of its €550 million City of Dreams Mediterranean in Cyprus until the end of 2021.
Originally scheduled to open mid-year, Cyprus news outlet Phileleftheros is reporting that the company has been forced to push back the launch date due to changes to the initial design. The changes include expansion of infrastructure, layout adjustments, more guest rooms and a larger gaming floor.
Phileleftheros also suggested the final cost of development will comfortably exceed €550 million.
City of Dreams Mediterranean is a joint venture project owned 75% by Melco Resorts and 25% by local firm Cyprus Phassouri Ltd (CPZ). The original design provides space for 126 gaming tables and 1,200 gaming machines plus a five-star hotel with 500 hotel rooms, 11 restaurants and cafeterias, a wellness center, sports center, extensive pool area, high-end retail area, an outdoor amphitheater and 9,600 square meters of MICE space.
