MGM Resorts Japan held a seminar titled “What is Responsible Gaming?” in Osaka on Tuesday, where the company’s Senior Advisor Global Industry Affairs introduced MGM’s problem gaming strategy.
“We spent more than five years researching this problem, which is more time than anyone else. The result is that we have come up with the best course of action,” he said.
Keiji Ohara, director of the Shimane Prefecture’s consultation center and the body’s counseling center, and Ritsumeikan University assistant professor Kengo Yokomitsu joined the panel as domestic specialists. They exchanged opinions with Feldman from the perspective of medical and behavioral psychology.
Ohara spoke of addiction as, “Knowing one has a problem but unable to quit. Two major symptoms include lying and debt. Depression and suicidal tendencies are common complications.”
Yokomitsu is introduced an app currently in development that gives notifications when the subject is nearing a gambling venue in order to help them steer clear.
The seminar was also attended by a number of people involved in Japan Casino School and Japan Casino Academy, institutions that train dealers domestically.
