Macau Fisherman’s Wharf (MFW) and Japan’s Bandai Namco have signed a cooperation agreement to develop a VR Zone in the entertainment complex, located on the Macau peninsula.
At a signing ceremony held on Monday, the President of Macau Fisherman’s Wharf International Investment Limited, Melinda Chan Mei Yi, said the project was pioneering virtual reality experiences in the region and expected to boost entertainment in the complex – which houses Legend Palace and Babylon Casino – beyond gambling.
“Since Macau is a tourist destination and our government wants to diversify our economy and build more non-gaming industries, this is something that Macau Fisherman’s Wharf wanted to establish,” she said.
The new VR Zone is expected to open in autumn and will include experiences suitable both adults and children.
Chan also confirmed that a new restaurant developed by a 3-Michelin star brand in Hong Kong brand will open at Legend Palace Hotel during this year. However, other pending projects including a dinosaur museum will not be ready in 2019, she added.
As part of the agreement, Bandai Namco will operate a flagship store on the premises.
