Lim Kok Thay sees Genting Malaysia shareholding edge towards 50%

Genting Group Chairman and CEO Lim Kok Thay has seen his interest in the company’s Malaysian subsidiary, Genting Malaysia, edge closer to 50% after four batches of ordinary shares vested and were credited to him this week.

In a Monday filing, Genting Malaysia revealed that Lim had boosted his holding by a total of 5,863,548 ordinary shares, lifting his direct interest to 20,003,648 or 0.354% of issued share capital. He also holds deemed interests of 2,796,992,189 ordinary shares comprising 49.472% of issued share capital.

His combined interest subsequently sits at 49.826% as of Monday 25 March 2019.

Lim’s newly acquired shares are a result of shares granted in March 2016, March 2017 and March 2018 under the company’s Performance Share Plan.

Genting Malaysia oversees Genting’s flagship Malaysia IR Resorts World Genting, its 41 UK properties – the company disposed of luxury casino Maxims only last week – as well as Resorts World New York City and Resorts World Bimini.

Lim was ranked number four in Inside Asian Gaming’s 2018 Asian Gaming Power 50 list of the 50 most influential people in Asian gaming.
