Japan Casino School, Japan’s first specialized training institution for casino croupiers, has announced that it will open an Osaka school on 7 April in Shinsaibashi.
The school, which is the organisation’s second in Osaka, aims to develop the skills required for people looking to work in the casino industry as the prospect of an IR opening in Osaka in 2024 moves closer to becoming a reality. It offers a General Short Course of three classes a week for three months, a General Course of three classes a week for six months and a General Long Course of two classes a week. These are provided in such a way that they are accessible to a wide range of people, including those already working in other positions and homemakers.
If IRs are indeed realized in Japan, there will inevitably be a strong demand for several thousand local croupiers. One major overseas IR operator has already expressed its intention to hire Japanese people soon and so recruitment from casino training operations like Japan Casino School is rising.
According to the school, more than 700 students have graduated so far with a number of them working in overseas IRs, cruise ship casinos and domestic amusement casinos. The school opened last year in April.
Principal Masayoshi Oiwane told IAG, “We are opening a Shinsaibashi classroom in the Shinsaibashi arcade to double our course offerings in Osaka and to accept more students on to these courses.
“I am very excited to be involved in the education of Osaka residents so they will be able to make the most of the IR opportunity and run a school loved by its neighbors.”
