The Australian Chamber of Commerce in Macau (AustCham Macau) has announced its official establishment, with the organization set to focus on issues of specific interest to Australians and Australian-connected people in Macau.

According to a Monday press release, the decision to establish a Macau-specific Chamber will allow for greater promotion of economic, commercial, business and person-to-person connections between Australia and the Macau SAR.

The separation of the Hong Kong and Macau Chambers was amicable and the two have signed an MoU to co-operate in a number of operational areas including the Greater Bay Area initiative, AustCham Macau revealed.

The organization’s founding members are Michael Keen, Liviano Lacchia, Patrick Liu, Andrew W Scott and Michael Usher as founding members, with Janet McNab and Lloyd Robson having also joined the Board of Directors.

In its launch announcement, AustCham Macau thanked Vincent Kelly and the late Martin Darveniza for their efforts in helping establish the Chamber.

An Official Launch and Membership Drive BBQ will be held on Australia Day this Saturday 26 January 2019 on the patio of Galaxy Macau’s Terrazza restaurant.

“I am proud to announce the official establishment of AustCham Macau, which will work to further strengthen the business and person-to-person connections between Australia and Macau,” said Chairman Patrick Liu.

“All are welcome to join us to celebrate the launch of the Chamber on Australia Day as we embark on our journey and begin our membership drive.”
