US-based regional casino operator Rush Street is set to launch a new online platform called “My Tomakomai” aimed at providing the local community with input into the potential features of a Tomakomai IR should the company win a regional Japanese casino license.
“My Tomakomai” will be formally unveiled at this week’s 1st Hokkaido IR Showcase, to be held in Sapporo on Wednesday and Thursday. Rush Street Japan officially announced its intention to bid for an IR license in Tomakomai City last month, with founder Neil Bluhm telling Inside Asian Gaming that the company’s regional experience made it a perfect candidate to operate a Hokkaido casino-resort.
Discussing this week’s Hokkaido IR Showcase in a Monday release, Rush Street said the event will provide an opportunity to engage with the general public and “share its vision and values through images and videos of the company’s history that are a testament to the company’s commitment to each of the regions in which it has a presence.”
“Visitors to the real estate developer’s booth at the event will be greeted with elements that reflect the natural beauty of Hokkaido,” it added. “As the creator of the world’s first ever gaming facility to be recognized for its green design, materials and practices, Rush Street Japan adopts a unique approach to building environmentally-sensitive properties from the ground up.
“The company’s mission is to respect the natural environment, as well as the needs of the local community, was the key to success in the development and operation of the first and only IRs in five locations across North America, including the Capital Region of New York State and Niagara Falls, Ontario.”
The “My Tomakomai” initiative will run throughout 2019 and comes shortly after Rush Street opened its first Tomakomai office.
