Melco Resorts has opened the first of its four satellite casinos in Cyprus, the company announced overnight.
The modest Cyprus Casinos Nicosia (C2 Nicosia), which covers 970 square meters and features five live gaming tables and 50 slot machines, opened its doors this week, with City of Dreams Mediterranean Property President Craig Ballantyne stating that, “C2 will significantly contribute to the efforts of the Cypriot government to combat illegal gaming.”
The launch of C2 Nicosia follows the recent opening of Melco’s temporary casino, Cyprus Casinos Limassol, in June while construction work continues on the €550 million City of Dreams Mediterranean. When complete in 2021, City of Dreams Mediterranean will offer 136 gaming tables and 1,200 electronic gaming machines as well as a 500-room hotel, 11 restaurants, 1,200 square meters of retail and almost 10,000 square meters of meeting and exhibition space.
Melco is set to launch three more satellite casinos in the coming months including C2 Larnaca later this month, followed by the third in January and fourth in May.
The C2 Nicosia satellite casino will open from 15:00 to 06:00 midweek and 24 hours per day on weekends and public holidays, Melco said.
