China’s Yuechun Shi wins maiden Jeju Red Dragon Main Event
Print Friendly, PDF & Email

China’s Yuechun Shi has made history after winning the first ever Jeju Red Dragon Main Event at Korea’s Jeju Shinhwa World.

Held outside of Macau for the very first time, the Red Dragon – formerly the central event of the Macau Poker Cup – attracted a Korean main event record field of 613 players and a hefty KRW1.23 billion (US$1.09 million) prize pool.

After four days of action, it was 47-year-old logistics manager Shi, from Ningbo, who emerged victorious to claim the Red Dragon trophy and a first prize of KRW266 million (US$237,700).

The Jeju Red Dragon was moved to Korea after its former home – PokerStars LIVE Macau at City of Dreams – was shut down in April after five years. Hong Kong-listed International Entertainment Corp has since purchased the rights to operate PokerStars branded live events across much of Asia and is said to be currently looking for a new Macau home.
