Melco Resorts & Entertainment has launched a new virtual reality entertainment facility at City of Dreams Manila, titled The Garage.
Officially open for business as of Saturday 14 October, The Garage is described by Melco as a VR Zone and food park that allows guests to “delve into an immersive experience of virtual reality entertainment and delight in a wide range of casual dining choices” from an array of selected food trucks.
The VR Zone is operated by Japan’s Bandai Namco Amusement, a leading video digital entertainment company.
“The Garage is City of Dreams Manila’s latest attraction featuring unique entertainment activities in partnership with Bandai Namco Amusement,” said property COO Kevin Benning.
“With their creativity and cutting-edge technology we are honored and delighted to partner with them and together blaze a trail in delivering extraordinary entertainment experiences that go beyond gaming and recreation in the Philippines.”
The Garage covers 2,714 square meters of floor space on the upper ground floor, including 563 seats. It was designed by Paris-based creative design agency Malherbe Design in collaboration with Westar Architectural Interior Design, with graffiti artworks provided by Kookoo Ramos and DeeJae Paeste.
The VR Zone features Mario Kart Arcade GP VR, which was developed by Bandai Namco Amusement under license from Nintendo. The three-minute experience allows players to choose one of the game’s main characters – Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach or Yoshi – then race against up to three other players through a tricky course.
Hospital Escape Terror is a horror room game in which players must “survive” and escape from a dark, cursed, abandoned hospital within nine minutes while being restrained in a wheelchair.
Ski Rodeo offers a two-minute ski simulator in which players race down a vast snowy mountain course with sharp slopes and steep drops.
The Garage also features 10 food and beverage trucks including Hokkaido Ramen Santouka, Katsu Sora, Pink’s Hotdog, Little Flour, El Chupacabra, Pizza Grigliata, Farmacy, Chocol8, The Roaster and Juiced.
