Macau has continued its strong start to Golden Week, with the number of arrivals over the first 48 hours growing by 14.3% year-on-year to 276,183, according to figures from the Public Security Police Force.
Those numbers include a 27.2% increase in arrivals from mainland China to 236,431, representing 85.6% of the total.
The majority of arrivals on Monday and Tuesday came via the border gate at 176,137, with another 37,768 entering via the Cotai checkpoint. Almost 50,000 arrived by sea while 14,605 flew into Macau International Airport.
While year-on-year growth slowed to 10.8% on Tuesday compared with 18.4% on Monday, actual numbers increased with 131,971 arriving on Monday and 144,212 on Tuesday.
Golden Week officially began on China’s National Day on Monday and runs for seven days through until this Sunday 7 October.
