Resorts business shows improvement but pachinko decline hurts Sega Sammy quarterly results

Paradise City in Incheon

Paradise SegaSammy – the joint venture between Japan’s Sega Sammy Holdings Inc and Korea casino operator Paradise Co – has announced that it will open its second batch of non-gaming facilities at its Incheon integrated resort, Paradise City, on 21 September.

The facilities, which comprise the second stage of Paradise City’s Phase 1 development, cover a combined 110,000 square meters and include a boutique hotel, nightclub, art gallery, shopping mall, film studio and indoor family entertainment facility.

The property held its grand opening in April 2017 with existing facilities including a casino and hotel.

Of the new facilities to launch on 21 September, boutique hotel Art Paradise will add 58 rooms and boast an adjoining restaurant, bar, private spa and fitness facility. Nearby Paradise Art Space will cover two floors and exhibit art as well as architecture, design and fashion.

Nightclub Chroma is described as the largest club in Northeast Asia with capacity for 3,000 people while Studio Paradise is a “cutting-edge film studio” for movies, TV dramas and other professional use.

Paradise City will also open luxury hot bath facility Cimer, which it says combines Korean-style jjimjilbang with European-style spas. Cimer will have capacity for 2,000 people with the spa on the first floor, jjimjilbang on the second floor and an outdoor pool on the third floor alongside a sports bar.

“Paradise City will continue to aim to become a central resort facility in Northeast Asia by delivering a best-ever moving experience to every visitor with highly sophisticated spaces integrating art and entertainment, as well as top-class hospitality,” the company said.
