The number of visitors to Macau grew 9.4% year-on-year to 2,602,853 in June, according to latest figures from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).
It included a 7.2% increase in overnight visitors (1,445,431) and 12.4% increase in same-day visitors (1,157,422) with the average length of stay holding steady year-on-year at 1.3 days.
Visitors from Mainland China increased by 13.5% year-on-year to 1,752,222 in June, with those travelling under the Individual Visit Scheme rising by 15.0% to 810,339. Mainland visitors came primarily from Guangdong Province (698,795), Hunan Province (84,683) and Fujian Province (67,856).
Visitors from Hong Kong (501,451) and Taiwan (92,897) increased by 2.0% and 7.8% respectively while those from Korea (57,787) dropped by 13.4%.
Visitors from the United States (16,405) and the United Kingdom (4,031) registered year-on-year growth, whereas those from Australia (5,860) and Canada (4,484) decreased.
Analyzed by mode of transport, visitor arrivals by land grew by 12.1% year-on-year to 1,478,786, with those arriving through the Border Gate (1,274,010) increasing by 12.1%. Visitor arrivals by sea went up by 1.4% year-on-year to 854,073 including an 8.3% increase via Taipa Ferry Terminal to 363,267.
Visitor arrivals by air totaled 269,994, up 24.7% year-on-year.
June’s numbers took the total number of visitors during the first half of the year to 16,814,190, an increase of 8.0% year-on-year. Overnight visitors (8,767,071) and same-day visitors (8,047,119) increased by 8.3% and 7.8% respectively during that time.
Visitors from Mainland China (11,705,164) increased by 13.3% year-on-year in the first six months of the year while those from the Republic of Korea (423,952) and Hong Kong (3,000,131) dropped by 2.2% and 3.7% respectively.
Visitors from the United States (96,586) recorded year-on-year growth, whereas those from Australia (44,776), Canada (36,859) and the United Kingdom (28,195) declined.
