Macau-based electronic gaming equipment supplier Asia Pioneer Entertainment (APE) has launched a paid joint internship program with local higher education facility, Macau Polytechnic Institute.
The internship program aims to enable students to gain extensive knowledge in the area of gaming equipment and to develop gaming equipment management skills.
In an announcement, APE said the internship would provide those selected with an opportunity to develop a long-term career in the industry.
“We are excited to have received this internship program opportunity, which is a great opportunity for students to gain professional experience in a local gaming equipment industry and how the business-to-business mode works,” said APE’s CEO and Executive Director Herman Ng.
The interns must be full-time students at Macau Polytechnic Institute and be able to work 400 hours at APE. The company added that interns have the opportunity to be offered a full-time job at the end of the program if their performance is satisfactory during their internship.
Macao Polytechnic Institute is currently home to around 3,200 full time students on degree programs and 10,000 students on non-degree training courses. The institute began offering gaming-related professional skills training in 2003 and in 2009 established the Gaming Teaching and Research Centre (GTRC) to promote gaming related academic research in the region, including gaming industry development, regulatory systems, social and economic impacts of gaming and diversification of the economy.
Since 2010, the GTRC has been running a bachelor degree program in gaming and recreation management to nurture high quality human resources for the gaming and related industries.
