Rui Cunha, aged 76, has practiced law in Macau for 37 years, being founder and Senior Partner of “C&C Advogados” (a law office with headquarters in Macau and overseas offices in Lisbon, Timor and Cape Verde), a qualified Private Notary in Macau and one of the founders of the Macau Bar Association.
Graduating in 1964 from the Law Faculty of Lisbon University, Portugal, from 1965 to 1981 he served as Public Prosecutor, Attorney General and Judge of High Courts in Portugal and various Portuguese ex-Colonies.
He is a member of UIA-Union International des Avocats, APAA-Asian Patent Attorneys Association and INTA-International Trademark Association.
Having spent 29 years as the main Legal Consultant for STDM, S.A. and Dr Stanley Ho, Dr Cunha was one of the founding partners for SJM, S.A in Macau and SJM Holdings, a listed company in Hong Kong where he was an Executive Director until 2017. He now continues as Director and Secretary-General for SJM, S.A as well as a member of social bodies, Chairman and Trustee of several other companies and associations in Macau, Hong Kong and Portugal.
Dr Cunha is founder and Chairman of the “Rui Cunha Foundation,” founded in Macau in 2012 as a cultural, educational and research center for the Macau legal system and other philanthropic activities.
