Sands China Ltd has revealed that 25% of its guest shuttle bus fleet is now running on compressed natural gas (CNG) technology as Macau’s concerted push to become a “clean city” picks up steam.
In a Monday announcement, the company said it now operates a total of 38 clean energy buses, having been the first Macau integrated resort to use CNG-powered buses when it rolled out 30 for the launch of the Parisian Macao in September 2016. The Parisian’s entire fleet operates on clean energy.
Sands China was also the first to operate an all-electric bus, which was introduced as a team member shuttle in November 2014.
The Macau IR operator said it plans to have 30% of its fleet running on clean energy by the end of the year with that number to push skyward in 2019 and beyond.
