Japanese pachinko and pachislot manufacturer Sega Sammy Holdings has been granted Manufacturer and Distributor licenses for the manufacture, sale and distribution of gaming machines in Nevada via its wholly-owned subsidiaries Sega Sammy Creation Inc and Sega Sammy USA Inc.
In a Tuesday announcement, Sega Sammy revealed that it had applied for a license in the US casino hub “to expand into North America, the world’s largest gaming machine market, in order to increase its Asia-centric business.”
The company said it will now file an application for inspection of its gaming machines by the relevant institutions and develop a sales structures, with the aim of rolling out the first gaming machines into the Nevada market between April 2018 and March 2019.
Sega Sammy added that the Nevada Gaming Control Board had conducted a comprehensive investigation of the company and its subsidiaries before awarding the licenses, examining governance and compliance structures, financial and tax information, client information and litigation histories. The board also looked into the education and employment records, information of assets, litigation and criminal histories and relationships of all the company’s executive officers and directors as well as its CEO, COO, CFO and General Counsel.
Sega Sammy said it will now move forward with procedures to acquire licenses in other regions to expand its distribution area.
