The show formerly known as the Macao Gaming Show celebrated its 5th anniversary at theVenetian Macao in November.

THE MGS Entertainment Show celebrated its 5th year in 2017 with 162 exhibitors and visitors from over 80 countries converging on the Venetian Macao from 14 to 16 November.

Event organizer, the Macau Gaming Equipment Manufacturers Association, reported a total of 15,234 visitors across the three days, with the theme of “Smart City, Smart Economy.” The theme was reflected in the nature of the products on show which included some remarkable technological innovations such as humanoid robots at the LT Game and Qihan Technology stands and Hikvision’s new security and traffic surveillance systems.

“We have put in a lot of work building the association these past five years,” said MGEMA Chairman Jay Chun. “It hasn’t been easy but we are very happy with the results of our labor.”

MGEMA was founded in 2012 to support the broad-based entertainment industry, covering a range of fields, including gaming equipment manufacturing, tourism, cultural events and technology. The association aims to pioneer the “Made in Macau” brand and to help its members expand the reach of their businesses, with more than 150 companies based in Macau and around the world now registered as members.

One of the standout features of MGS in 2017 was the MGS Summit, which featured a high-profile line-up of government, business and gaming industry leaders led by Director of Macau’s Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau, Paulo Martins Chan.

He was joined by MGM China Executive Director Pansy Ho, Sands China President Wilfred Wong, Suncity Group CEO Alvin Chau, Meg-Star International CEO Thomas Pang and Alibaba Cloud’s General Manager of Hong Kong, Leo Liu.

MGS 2017 also saw Inside Asian Gaming partner with MGEMA to produce MGS Daily for the very first time – a daily newspaper distributed on all three show days covering the latest news and exhibitor offerings from the conference and exhibition floor.
