Landing International Development will launch casino operations at Jeju Shinhwa World on 8 December 2017, part of the official opening of its new Korean integrated resort.
In a statement announcing the injection of a further US$300 million into Jeju Shinhwa World, which is scheduled for full completion by 2019, Landing said the official 8 December opening would see Marriott Resort Jeju Shinhwa World and Landing Hotel opened to the public as well as a MICE center, themed restaurants and food streets, a retail mall and casino.
The company had previously indicated that it was “exploring the possibility of relocating” its Landing Casino, currently located within Hyatt Regency Jeju Hotel, to Jeju Shinhwa World.
“It is recognized that a casino is one of the most essential facilities within an integrated resort to complement better offerings to its visitors with a complete hospitality experience and in order to leverage and utilize current casino operation resources within the group’s business as a whole,” it said.
Landing announced on Thursday that it will inject US$300 million into its subsidiary Landing Jeju Development Co, Ltd for the development of Jeju Shinhwa World, taking the total amount invested in the project to HK$11.71 billion.
The company opened the first part of the resort, a fully serviced resort condominium called Somerset Jeju Shinhwa World, in April, and will launch its Shinhwa theme park to the public on 30 September 2017. The theme park offers more than 20 rides and attractions themed by TUBAn, a well-known local animation IP creator in Korea.
The entire development is expected to be completed by the end of 2019 when the luxury Four Seasons Resort & Spa and a Hollywood inspired outdoor theme park, Lionsgate Movie World, will be ready for operation.
Landing International last week completed the placement of 24 billion shares, raising HK$1.8 billion in the process for completion of Jeju Shinhwa World.
