Landing Jeju Development Co Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Landing International Development Ltd and operator of Korea’s Jeju Shinhwa World, has entered into an agreement with Lionsgate Entertainment Inc to develop Lionsgate’s first branded outdoor theme park built exclusively around its world-famous movies.
“Lionsgate Movie World” at Jeju Shinhwa World will be the only theme park branded with the Lionsgate trademark in the Republic of Korea. Spanning approximately 122,000 square meters, the project will feature a first-class theme park centered around seven movie zones with multiple renowned Lionsgate’s film properties, including among others The Hunger Games, the Twilight series and Now You See Me.
“Visitors can experience actual movie scenes through state-of-the-art rides, attractions and 4D Intellectual Property reproduced streets and towns,” Landing International said in its announcement. “Each zone will also feature themed restaurants, cafes, souvenir shops and entertainment performances.”
Lionsgate Movie World is expected to commence construction in 2018 and is scheduled to open in 2019.
“With the addition of Lionsgate Movie World as the centerpiece of Jeju Shinhwa World, the group believes that Jeju Shinhwa World will offer comprehensive premium guest experience in world class resort facilities including Four Seasons Resort, Marriott Resort and Spa, Somerset serviced resort condominium and upscale villas, with variety of leisure and entertainment options comprising theme parks, an adventure water park, a destination spa, a K-pop entertainment center as well as a large retail and food and beverage complex,” it said.
