HK$3 million is how much Macau gaming kingpin Dr Stanley Ho may have to pay a former member of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference. At stake is payment for a painting Dr Ho allegedly requested from Tommy Wan Tai-min, with Wan demanding repayment and interest plus legal costs.
Dr Ho, also a former Hong Kong delegate to the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, has been indicted in the lawsuit after an injunction was lodged at the Supreme Court of the Hong Kong SAR last Friday, according to the South China Morning Post.
The lawsuit is “in respect of a gift painting requested” and seeks all associated costs as well as “other forms of compensation that the court deemed appropriate.”
Mr Wan’s representative law firm Raymond T. L. Tse & Co. have refused to comment.
The health of Dr Ho, 95, has been in decline in recent years and last month he retired as executive chairman and executive director of Shun Tak Holdings, replaced by daughter Pansy Ho.
