Malaysia’s Choong Kian Weng has won the APT Macau Main Event, dominating a field of 118 players to claim the HK$521,000 top prize.

Claiming his first APT championship ring, Weng sat among the chip leaders from early on Day 1 before easing his way through to the final table where he proved too strong for the remaining eight players.

APT Macau 2017 was the first time the Asian Poker Tour has hosted an event at the Macau Billionaire Poker room at Babylon Casino.

The HK$19,800 prize pool created a total prize pool of just over HK$2 million of which 5% was donated to the Holy House of Mercy Macau.

APT Macau final table placings

1: Choong Kian Weng – HK$521,000
2: Dang Van Hien – HK$304,800
3: Shravan Chhabria – HK$211,000
4: Saul Oliver – HK$153,900

6: Peng Fei Liu – HK$105,000
