MGM China’s new Cotai integrated resort will feature a high-tech theater, celebrity chefs and a central plaza three times the size of MGM Macau’s Grande Praça when it opens in late 2017, according to the company’s Chief Operating Officer (Gaming) John Shigley.
Speaking at a panel titled “Content and amenities for the mass market” at G2E Asia on Wednesday, Mr Shigley said MGM Cotai aimed to provide “something for everybody” with the theater and plaza set to be its key attractions.
“The most exciting thing about our new property will be our theater,” he said. “It will be a high-tech theater with at least eight different seating layouts that we can offer and will include everything from a performance theater to a trade show floor.
“It has been developed in partnership with the same people who developed the early theaters of House of Dancing Water (the resident show at City of Dreams).
“We expect to have three resident shows so we are committing to a fantastic diversified offering. There will be something for everybody and something really tailored to the Chinese culture.
“We will also have a common area that is three times the size of the Grande Praça and will feature custom video displays on LED walls. We are developing content for local customers here and that’s a big offering.”
Mr Shigley added that MGM Cotai would feature four celebrity chefs upon opening, including host of hit US cooking shows MasterChef and MasterChef Junior Graham Elliot and Singaporean pastry queen Janice Wong.
