Bloomberry Resorts has announced that its US$1.2 billion Solaire casino hotel will open 16th March as the first of four integrated resorts planned for Manila’s new Entertainment City complex.
Solaire, whose listed parent company is controlled by Philippines port tycoon Enrique Razon, will open with 500 hotel rooms and a host of non-gaming attractions. Another 300 rooms will be added over the next two years, Bloomberry says.
Entertainment City, designed to put the Philippines on the regional gaming destination map, is located on 100 hectares of reclaimed land on Manila Bay. The site is owned by the Philippines Amusement and Gaming Corp, the government-sponsored regulator.
The other three Entertainment City franchise holders are property giant Alliance Global, controlled by Andrew Tan, and partners Genting; Belle Corp., controlled by Henry Sy, reputedly the island nation’s richest man, and partners Melco Crown Entertainment; and a subsidiary of Japanese machine gaming tycoon Kazuo Okada’s Universal Entertainment.
