Air Macau has launched a new weekly route to the mainland city of Shenyang, the airline’s 20th route and its first to northeast China.
Air Macau is also planning to expand its mainland network by introducing two additional routes to Wenzhou and Zhengzhou sometime this year, according to Union Gaming Research Macau, which estimates the three new routes could potentially bring an additional 18,000 visitors a year to Macau.
Shenyang is the capital and largest city of Liaoning Province, with an urban population of 5.7 million. Liaoning was the source of more than 366,000 visitors to Macau in the first 11 months of 2012, of whom about 40 percent arrived as part of the mainland’s Individual Visit Scheme.
Air Macau currently serves 12 other locations within China.
