DLV is seeking to parlay its strong performance in Cambodia into a presence on Asia’s major casino floors

Latvia’s DLV returned to G2E Asia last month, intent on expanding its presence in the region.

Competitive pricing and reliable quality have won the company customers in several international markets including the European Union, non-EU countries in Eastern Europe, Central America and South America. It established its first Asian foothold two years ago in Cambodia, where it operates its products on a revenue share basis. The revenue share strategy allows the machines to prove themselves in the market, and their performance can then be used as a reference point for potential buyers.

Taking center stage at DLV’s exhibit at G2E Asia last month was its latest release, the mystery progressive jackpot system Gauya Quest. The versatile product can operate either as a standalone unit or as part of a linked network and offers a four-level mystery progressive jackpot—Earth, Moon, Sun and Vega. The mystery jackpot payout is influenced by bet size—the more a player wagers, the greater his chance of winning a higher jackpot. Gauya Quest is compatible with any of the fifteen titles offered under the DIAMOND GAMES Premium multi-game series.

The Gauya Quest theme is inspired by the real-life adventure of Latvian explorer Alexander Laime, who in 1949 reached the world’s highest waterfall, the 979 metre tall Angel Falls in Venezuela, during a trekking expedition. He named the river that feeds Angel Falls after the river in his home land: Gauya. DLV decided to bring this story to the gaming world through the Gauya Quest jackpot.

Also on display at G2E Asia 2012 were DLV’s two latest cabinets. The first is the DIAMOND STD – Slant Top, equipped with two 22” TFT screens and two multi-functional MK4 hoppers, as well as offering TITO support. It is also compatible with various casino management systems.

The second is the DIAMOND DWS – Upright, also with two 22” TFT screens and equipped with two MK4hoppers, JCM bill acceptor and TITO support. In addition, it has a panel for the optional installation of management system components.

In Cambodia and worldwide, DLV has enjoyed success with its Jewel Jackpot series, a progressive jackpot system including ten games and various themes. Following on from the first Jewel Jackpot, the company has gone on to release Jewel Jackpot 2 and Jewel Jackpot 3.

DLV has good insight into the needs of smaller gaming operations—particularly the needs for operational and cost flexibility. As well as manufacturing slot equipment, the company runs slot halls in its home market, as well as in South America and Asia.

DLV is making a considerable effort in putting its products through international certification processes. The company says it’s a good way of indicating to the market the quality and safety of the products and is in any case a growing requirement of cross-border sales in most markets. Some smaller suppliers don’t have international certification for their machines and are thus limited to selling into unregulated or lightly regulated markets.

Beyond Cambodia, DLV now looks set to also enter the Philippines. The company acknowledges, however, that its brand is still not widely known throughout Asia, and it has yet to gain a presence on the casino floors of Macau, the jewel in Asia’s gaming crown. It believes it is only a matter of time before it does so, however, given the technical robustness and competitive pricing of its products.

“It’s just a question of customers getting to know us,” says the company’s marketing manager, Oksana Sushinska. “That’s why we keep coming back to G2E Asia. To give people a chance to see what we have to offer.”
