GPI's RFID chips and plaques

Over four decades on from its first Macau order, GPI remains the go-to supplier of secure and versatile chips, plaques and jetons in Asia’s hottest gaming market

Gaming Partners International (GPI)—the world’s leading provider of casino currency—is by far the dominant supplier of chips, plaques and jetons in Macau (as well as Asia’s other major gaming market, Singapore). GPI is a strong contender for the title of longest continuous supplier of equipment to the Macau gaming market. The company has been supplying Dr Stanley Ho’s gaming operation since 1967.

Macau continues to generate sizeable orders for GPI. Last year, the 15th May unveiling of the sprawling Galaxy Macau brought GPI its biggest ever order for a casino opening. The chips and plaques for Galaxy Macau are from GPI’s prestigious Bourgogne & Grasset (B&G) line of casino currency products. They include a variety of styles, shapes and color combinations, as well as a number of security features, including RFID. GPI supplied a number of chip sets that are customized to meet the casino’s aesthetic, operational and security requirements.

Last month, GPI announced it has received three orders to supply chips and plaques totaling just under US$4.7 million. GPI will fulfill these orders through its Macau-based sales and service office and will produce approximately 700,000 custom B&G premium chips for Venetian Macau Limited’s Sands Macau and Sands Cotai properties and over 80,000 B&G RFID plaques for SJM’s Grand Lisboa.

“We are privileged to once again work with Venetian Macau Limited and SJM to supply their respective properties with our B&G chips and plaques,” commented Gregory Gronau, Gaming Partners International’s President and CEO. “Our sales and product design teams worked closely with each operator to design exceptional currency products that reflect each property’s unique brand, and we look forward to delivering these orders in the second half of this year.”

GPI’s B&G products are widely considered the gaming industry’s most prestigious chips, plaques and jetons. Introduced in 2011, B&G premium chips combine innovations in chip design and manufacturing to give casinos the ability to create a completely unique chip design that combines up to six individual color shots with casino logos, iconic designs or other significant elements. With their elegant materials and unmatched quality, B&G plaques continue to grace the VIP tables of casinos all over the world.

GPI’s casino currency products, which also include well-known brands Paulson and Bud Jones, all come with a variety of security features and customization options. GPI is dedicated to constant innovation in order to thwart counterfeiters, and pioneered the use of security features such as RFID technology in casino chips and provides RFID solutions including chips, readers and displays.

GPI is headquartered in Las Vegas. Its products, which also include other table game equipment (gaming furniture and accessories; table layouts; playing cards; dice; and roulette wheels), are manufactured in its high security, high-capacity production facilities in Mexico and France. The company’s products have been used in casinos all over the world since 1925.
