This is the first case of its kind since the integrated resorts opened their doors last year.
The men, who are between 24 and 33 years old, allegedly presented 39 counterfeit chips valued at S$1,000 each at different gaming tables on December 29, last year.
It’s believed they approached croupiers at the tables and asked them to exchange the bogus chips for genuine ones in smaller denominations.
The men allegedly committed the offence between 8.45pm and 11pm that day.
The court heard on Friday that they are allegedly part of a syndicate dealing with counterfeit chips and the total amount involved is believed to be S$47,000.
Lawyer Subhas Anandan, who represents one of the men, 25-year-old Asfaq Usman, said that S$17,000 have already been recovered.
The other men, including 24-year-old Vishal Sopan Surav and 33-year-old Soheel Ahmad Jamil Ahmad, are represented by SK Kumar.
The five men will be back in court on February 11.
