Latvia’s DLV makes a glittering start in Asia with its Jewel Jackpot and DIAMOND GAMES Premium III multi-game slots

Latvia’s DLV is uniquely placed to provide top quality gaming equipment and top quality service to its growing customer base in Asia. That’s because DLV is a gaming hall operator in its home market as well as a supplier of casino class equipment. In other words, DLV can understand the industry from both sides.

“Our motto is ‘Best quality in everything we do,’” says Michail Volokotkin, Chairman of the Board.

“We devote a great deal of attention to developing the professional skills of our staff and we really care about being flexible and responsive to our customers’ needs,” he adds.

Since DLV was founded in 1994, the company has built up a domestic network of 38 gaming halls. It has stocked those halls with 840 gaming machines made by the company and others from manufacturers including IGT, WMS, Merkur Gaming and Novomatic.

Insight

The experience of running its own gaming operation has given DLV important insight into the practical needs of other operators and ensured that DLV equipment is some of the most reliable and dynamic product available in the market. In 2004, the company embarked upon creating its own software, launched successfully in its own gaming halls. It then sold that proprietary technology into outside markets including the European Union, non-EU countries in Eastern Europe, Central America and South America. This year has been a breakthrough year in Asia.

DLV exhibited very successfully at G2E Asia in Macau this June. It was the company’s second year at the regional trade show, and DLV focused on two product ranges carefully targeted at Asian customers and Asian players for their play style, multi-game options and value for money.

These are the Jewel Jackpot multi-game with 10 games, all of them with nine winning lines, and the DIAMOND GAMES Premium III multi-game with 10 and 20 winning lines. Jewel Jackpot has a mystery progressive jackpot. It can be offered either as a standalone product or linked to as many as 256 slot units. It also has a Chinese-language interface available for Chinese players.

With the Jewel Jackpot multigame machine, DLV used its own gaming hall operations experience to create a product appropriate for Asian markets.

“Some of the Asian customers have limited space in their casinos—especially the ceilings, so there may not be space for large overhead jackpot signs. Jewel Jackpot has a very well defined upper screen so that the operator can clearly promote the jackpot available,” says Mr Volokotkin.

Slant top

The Diamond Games Premium III combines a stylish new slant top cabinet fitted with two 22” widescreens with the exciting offer of multiple games with 10 and 20 winning lines, plus a poker game.

The products have proven especially popular in Cambodia, where they have been placed in five casinos. “We’ve had especially good results at Star Vegas in Poipet. The players really love the multi-game products,” says Mr Volokotkin.

As a software developer, DLV can adjust the products to local market needs once they are installed. “We are developers and it is very easy for us to make modifications on the games if asked by our customers,” says Michail Volokotkin. The company is also working on a multi-game version of the Southeast Asian favourite roulette and also a blackjack game for its multi-game platform.

Quick turnaround

Despite being based in Europe, DLV is able to offer Asian customers short lead times and short supply lines for hardware thanks to its partnership with hardware manufacturers in Taiwan. As a mature business with 400 employees, the company also has the resources to offer in-region technical support—an important service for most casino operators. So confident is DLV of the quality of its products, it offers a free guarantee on every unit.

“We can offer assistance in the repair of gaming equipment either in Latvia or overseas. Our service centre is run by an expert team with longterm experience of gaming machines, peripherals and cash handling devices,” states Mr Volokotkin. The company also offers competitive terms on sales and installation of product, including revenue share deals, where appropriate to the market.

“We are very excited about our progress in Asian markets so far, and we see a lot of potential in the future,” asserts Mr Volokotkin.
