FISHING FOR JACKPOTS

How the game works

The game starts with a video reel sequence. The interactive FISHING FOR JACKPOTS™ Bonus can be triggered two ways, either by three goldfish symbols appearing only on reels one, two and three, or via the mystery trigger, which enters players into the Red Envelope Bonus. The envelopes represent the gifts of money commonly exchanged among people during Chinese New Year and known as ‘lai see’ in the local Cantonese dialect or ‘hong bao’ in Mandarin.

If the Red Envelope Bonus is activated, the player selects one of four red envelopes appearing on screen to reveal either a credit win or entry to the FISHING FOR JACKPOTS Bonus.

Any one of the five progressive jackpots can be won with any bet once the bonus round has been triggered. The probability of entering the bonus increases with higher bets encouraging players to raise their average bet. During the bonus the high quality TFT (thin-film transistor) screen displays the five jackpot levels: Minor, Major, Grand, Prime, and Royal. Each jackpot level has positions for three fish. The bottom TFT screen turns into a watery paradise with five goldfish suspended in pools. Players select one goldfish, which swims to the top TFT screen and into one of the free positions within a jackpot level. The player continues to select goldfish until one jackpot level has three goldfish—the winning jackpot level.

Focus group

The first Macau units of FISHING FOR JACKPOTS were installed in Macau in November 2008 in the SJM-licensed Golden Dragon casino.

“We did a player focus group prior to releasing the product in the market and we got a very good response—hence the fish. That’s a symbol that Chinese people understand and relate to. It’s about luck. The operators are more than happy with it in terms of the performance,” says Nadine Levermann.

FISHING FOR JACKPOTS takes advantage of the high quality playing experience of ATRONIC’s e²™ dual screen technology, says the company. Equally importantly for operators with busy slot floors, is that that ATRONIC offers a varied library of game titles to ensure maximum player appeal and performance on the floor.

FISHING FOR JACKPOTS has been launched with the following games with additional titles to be released on a regular basis: Wild Fangs™; Golden Light™, Bengal Tigers™ and Treasure Hunt™.

A variety of signage options have been designed to suit all types of gaming operations and budgets. The strong visual impact of a fully themed FISHING FOR JACKPOTS bank will attract players across the gaming floor, says ATRONIC.
