Michael Mecca has been appointed President and Chief Operating Officer of Galaxy Entertainment Group.

GEG said Mr Mecca will have overall responsibility for the performance and growth of StarWorld Hotel and Casino, Galaxy Macau resort on Cotai and Galaxy CityClubs at the Waldo Casino, Rio Casino, President Casino and Grand Waldo Casino.

Most recently he was President and Chief Executive Officer of Planet Hollywood, Las Vegas. He has also held senior executive roles with Station Casinos Inc., Las Vegas, Mandalay Resorts Group, Las Vegas and Caesars World Inc., Las Vegas.

Francis Lui, Vice Chairman, Galaxy Entertainment Group said in a prepared statement: “We are delighted to have an executive of Mr Mecca’s calibre joining us and we very much look forward to working closely with Mr Mecca to take Galaxy to the next level in its development as a leading Asian gaming corporation.”
