First Ferry launches online booking

New World First Ferry, an operator of maritime passenger services between Hong Kong and Macau, says it will offer online booking from 16th January.

The company will also install automatic ticket vending machines at its piers. First Ferry’s competitors, Shun Tak and CotaiJet, already offer online booking.

Between them the three companies carried more than 16.8 million passengers between Hong Kong and Macau last year—a year on year increase of 18 percent. However, many of those travellers were residents of Mainland China using double entry visas. That practice has now been stopped by the Mainland authorities, hence the need of the two cities to seek new markets in Southeast Asia.
