In the interests of journalistic balance, Asian Gaming Intelligence is happy to mention that no less than four restaurants at Crown Macau have earned inclusion in the newly launched Michelin Guide Hong Kong and Macau.
Last week we reported that Robuchon à Galera restaurant at Stanley Ho’s Hotel Lisboa in Macau had earned a coveted three-star rating in the guide.
Ying restaurant’s success in gaining its first Michelin star only 19 months after opening at Crown Macau must also rank as an outstanding achievement.
The other three signature restaurants at Crown Macau, Kira, Tenmasa and Aurora, as well as the hotel property itself, got a mention in the guidebook. Praise from Michelin is widely regarded as the hospitality industry’s highest accolade. The success of Ying and Robuchon à Galera is particularly notable as only six restaurants in Macau earned star ratings whereas 34 Hong Kong establishments achieved such awards.
The 2009 guide described Ying as: “the place to come for some of the best Cantonese cooking in the region.
“This is a terrific restaurant with breathtaking views looking north to Macau. The beautifully styled interior has been designed with real taste and quality; even the beaded curtains—featuring gold cranes and crystal trees—are fantastic. The Cantonese dishes on offer are prepared with contemporary twists and great flair, and are served by charmingly professional staff.”
Praise indeed.
