The World Series of Poker has announced that this year’s prestigious 2018 Global Casino Championship – the clonclusion to its annual WSOP Circuit Series – will be held at Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort in North Carolina from 7 to 9 August 2017.
The tournament, which sees the main event winner of all WSOP Circuit stops throughout the year as well as the Casino Champion at each stop win automatic entry, will feature a minimum US$1 million guaranteed prize pool and award the winner a WSOP gold bracelet. In total, up to 128 players will automatically qualifier while the top 100 players from the 2018 WSOP Player of the Year leaderboard can buy-in for US$10,000. Any player who won a gold circuit ring during the year can also buy-in.
“Ten years ago we only had 12 Circuit stops and they were all in the US,” said WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart. “We’re proud to have grown it to 39 stops in 11 different countries and the Global Casino Championship at Harrah’s Cherokee exists to put the best of the best in the same room to see who comes out on top.
“We’ll continue to work hard to make the World Series of Poker the biggest and best poker tournaments to play all around the world.”
The WSOP Circuit includes 13 international stops in the 2018 season, with Asia-Pacific represented by WSOP Sydney.
