Philippines gaming services provider PhilWeb Corporation has been granted permission by gaming regulator Pagcor to deploy its Electronic Gaming System (EGS) to an extra 21 gaming sites nationwide.
The deployment, which will see the company convert the sites from InstaWin EGS to PhilWeb’s EGS, more than doubles its reach, having originally been granted approval in December to provide gaming systems to its first 16 Pagcor-licensed sites.
In a letter addressed to PhilWeb’s majority owner and Chairman Gregorio Araneta III, Pagcor noted that 14 of the original 16 gaming sites tested since installation of PhilWeb’s EGS had shown “better performance than compared to previous months when these were still using the InstaWin EGS.” It also approved the request for further deployment.
PhilWeb’s license was renewed last August after Araneta purchased a 53.75% stake in the company from former owner Roberto Ongpin, who was famously described as an “oligarch” by Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte and had his company’s gaming license revoked in 2016.
