China’s Alvan Zhang has topped a mammoth field of 1,122 players to claim become the 28th Macau Poker Cup Red Dragon main event champion.
The 29-year-old from Guangzhou claimed a first prize of HK$3.055 million for his victory as well as a PokerStars Players No Limit Hold’em Platinum Pass which includes travel and entry into the US$25,000 buy-in No Limit Hold’em Championship at the annual PokerStars Carribean Adventure next January.
It is Zhang’s second big score in Macau, having previously win the Macau Millions in January 2016 for a HK$911,000 payday. But victory in the Red Dragon represents a considerably larger payday and sees Zhang shoot to 10th on China’s all time tournament poker money list with live winnings of US$1.16 million.
