US casino operator Mohegan Sun has announced former SJM Senior Vice President of Operations Andrew Billany as the new Chief Operating Officer of its South Korean integrated resort Inspire.
News of the appointment formed part of Mohegan Sun’s first quarter fiscal 2018 earnings call and comes after Billany tendered his resignation from SJM last August after 12 years in Macau, including eight years with Sands China.
His move to Korea comes as the company prepares to break ground on Inspire, the US$1.6 billion integrated resort to be built in the transportation hub of Incheon near Seoul.
Discussing progress of the development, CEO Mario Kontomerkos said that Mohegan Sun was planning “for a groundbreaking and financing sometime during the middle of 2018, once we receive approval for certain key permits, which appear imminent, and continue to target an overall project opening for 2021.”
